Here are some highlights of his availability. On offensive contributions: “All four lines have to discover a way to contribute offensively. It’s got to be somebody different every night; you can’t always rely on the same people. The primary guys are going to get the marquee minutes, O-zone starts and power-play time, so you’ve got to get them on the board for sure. Anything you get beyond that is bonus.”On Klas Dahlbeck drawing into the lineup in van Riemsdyk’s absence: “I think it’s great for Dahly, instead of having to wait. … When you get your opportunity, you have to capitalize on it. I think Dahly will.”On tonight’s opponent: “They’re a good team. Watched them the other night. … They had 31 or 33 shots, and 21 of them came within the back-end. That tells you a few things, so we’ve got to look after that.”Video: Bill Peters: “Be dialed in”VAN RIEMSDYK DIAGNOSED WITH CONCUSSION11:55 a.m.Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk has been diagnosed with a concu sion, according to head coach Bill Peters.READ FULL STORYCANES LINES: Early morning SKATE10:thirty a.m.The forward lines will look familiar; they haven’t changed from video game No. 1. Scott Darling stopped all three shots he saw in the shootout, and Jaccob Slavin scored the deciding goal with his patented backhand move to give the Canes their first win on Opening Night since the 2010-11 season, which also happened to be against the Wild.”There were a lot of good things and some breakdowns we can clean up,” head coach Bill Peters said after a se sing Saturday night’s game film and having a 45-minute practice on Monday. “We worked on a few things here today that should help tomorrow and moving forward.”The Hurricanes will now look to follow up that effort tonight when they host the Columbus Blue Jackets, the only recreation they play within their division and conference in their first six of the season; in fact, just 3 of the Canes’ first 12 games of the season feature Eastern Conference opponents, and Tuesday’s match-up will be the lone intradivisional match in that stretch. The Blue Jackets come into tonight’s recreation with a 1-1-0 record. After shutting out the New York Islanders 5-0 on Friday night, Columbus Julien Gauthier Jersey was handed a 5-1 defeat in Chicago on Saturday. The Hurricanes will likely be without the services of defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk, who did not practice on Monday. The 26-year-old defenseman slammed into the boards during the third period on Saturday, though after a brief departure to the home he did return to play the balance of the video game.”Right before practice he was a no go,” Peters explained. “He said he was sore. Knee and ankle both sore.”That appears to be the lone lineup change. Janne Kuokkanen, who made his NHL debut on a line with Derek Ryan and Jeff Skinner, will remain in the lineup. Kuokkanen logged two shots on goal in nearly 10 minutes of ice time on Saturday.”Kuokks made a lot of good little plays in all a few zones,” Peters said. “Very happy with his sport.”The Canes will also turn back to Darling in net. Darling made 23 saves in 65 minutes of work against the Wild and was a perfect 3-for-3 in the shootout.CANESPR NOTES: Marcus Kruger is expected to play in his 400th career NHL sport tonight. The Canes have a 10-3-2 record in their previous 15 games versus Columbus. They’ve also earned at least a point in seven of the past eight games (5-1-2) against the Blue Jackets at PNC Arena.CLICKS AND CLIPPINGSArticlesFrom the Stands to the IceRecap: Canes Top Wild in Shootout on Opening NightVideosIn the Room: Jeff Skinner, Oct. 9In the Space: Jordan Staal, Oct. 9In the Space: Derek Ryan, Oct. 9In the Room: Joakim Nordstrom, Oct. 9In the Room: Bill Peters, Oct. 9Highlights: CAR 5, MIN 4 (SO)Postgame Quotes: Oct. 7 vs. MINGameday LinksBuy Tickets20th AnniversaryFirst Goal Contest presented by Kayem
